About DT

DT honors U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Timothy P. Davis, 28, who was killed on February 20, 2009, in Afghanistan when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.

The workout uses one barbell for three lifts that move it from the floor to overhead. The bar never changes, so grip and lower-back fatigue build with every round.

Tips for DT

  • Link all three lifts without putting the bar down if you can. Re-gripping costs more time than a short rest at the top.
  • Break the deadlifts early, such as 6 and 6 or 7 and 5, to save your grip for the cleans.
  • A push jerk or split jerk is faster than a push press once your shoulders tire.
